Amazing Vintage Capelet from DH Holmes Department Store

You love vintage fur coats because they make you feel elegant and sophisticated. You'll especially love wearing this magnificent capelet from D. H. Holmes Department Store not only because you'll look like royalty, but also because of its history.

D.H. Holmes started as a New Orleans department store and later became a chain based out of the Big Easy. Founded in 1842 by Daniel Henry Holmes, the store was modeled after department stores in New York and Paris, guaranteeing quality high-end products and a top-notch customer service experience.

The store fronted Canal Street and was considered a landmark in bustling New Orleans. By the end of the 19th century, it was the largest department store in the South. The large clock on the building front was a popular rendezvous when this part of the city was a major shopping area. The opening scene of Pulitzer-Prize winning (and Priscilla's favorite) novel, A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole, includes the eccentric main character Ignatius G. Reilly agreeing to meet his mother at the D.H. Holmes Department Store clock.

Take a step back in time with this classic and glamorous statement piece. You're guaranteed to turn heads!
